NISEKO — Powder that falls light

And the mountains that hold it

The snow on Annupuri brings skiers from Australia and Singapore, and Hirafu stays lit below the runs. In the green season the valley is rafting and farm kitchens.

What NISEKO is known for

Powder, under Mount Yotei

POWDER

Powder, under Mount Yotei

ニセコのパウダー

Four linked ski areas face Mount Yotei across the valley, and the snow that lands here is unusually light and dry. It is the reason skiers fly in from Australia and Singapore every winter, and why the season runs long on both ends.

NIGHT SKIING

Night skiing, and the walk home

ナイターと夜の街

The floodlit runs above Hirafu stay open into the evening, so a late arrival still gets a day on the mountain. Below them, Hirafu village is dense with places to eat in more languages than you would expect this far north.

雪見の露天風呂

The whole area sits on volcanic water. Several open-air baths look straight out at Yotei, and a number of them let day visitors in — which is the simplest way to end a cold afternoon before dinner.

グリーンシーズン

From May the same valley is rafting on the Shiribetsu river, cycling, and farm-to-table restaurants working with what grows around them. Prices drop, the roads empty, and Yotei is still there.

PRIVATE TRANSPORT

Your own vehicle, and a driver who knows the roads

移動そのものを楽にする

Hokkaido is large and the trains do not go where the good places are. Every tour we run is private to your group, in our own vehicle, with a nationally-certified driver. You are picked up at your hotel and dropped back at it, and the route can change on the day if the weather does.

04 — NISEKO — PRACTICALITIES

Practicalities

Before you go to NISEKO

Best season
December to March for snow. May to October for rafting, cycling and the farm restaurants, with far fewer people around.
Getting there
Roughly two and a half hours by road from New Chitose Airport. We run a flat-rate private transfer with flight tracking and space for ski bags.
Time needed
Skiers usually base here for several nights rather than day-tripping.
Getting around
Hirafu village is walkable and the resorts run shuttles. The airport run is the leg worth arranging in advance.
Good to know
Winter road conditions between the airport and Niseko change fast; allow more time than the map suggests.
  • We currently run the airport transfer here rather than a guided day tour. Tell us what else you need and we will arrange it.
